Easy French Onion Soup that is Weight Watchers Friendly

I love french Onion Soup so I went in search of a healthier version that I could eat and abide by my Weight Watchers regimen. This recipe was adapted from one available on www.cookinglight.com.
Easy French Onion Soup
2 cups thinly sliced onion
1 1/2  tsp olive oil
1/4  tsp sugar
1½ cups water
1 cup red wine
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 can beef broth
4  slices French bread, toasted
1/2 cup shredded reduced fat Swiss cheese
Combine the onions, olive oil and sugar in a soup pot. Over medium heat, saute the onions until tender, about 10 minutes. Add water, wine, pepper, and broth bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 15 minutes to blend flavors. Spoon 1 cup soup into each of 4 oven-safe bowls, and top each with 1 bread slice and 2 tablespoons cheese. Place the bowls in a 350F oven until cheese melts.
